A Washington DC based Nigerian photographer, Wale Ariztos recently shut down downtown New Orleans for his wife’s 30th birthday ceremony in typical ‘owambe style’.

Lola Ariztos, who is a events and wedding planner,  had a most memorable birthday party as her doting husband, on New Orleans streets started the birthday train with a marching band who accompanied the couple to the restaurant where the birthday dinner held. According to Wale, “the second line band accompanied Lola from the hotel to the restaurant New Orleans style. She was so surprised!!”

Army got N250m bribe to destroy Gbaramatu - Militants

The now popular militant group, Niger Delta Avengers has issued a press release accusing two top officers of theNigerian Army of receiving N250m bribe to destroy Gbaramatu Kingdom.

The militants alleged that Brig. Gen. Faruk Yahaya and Major. M. B. Yahaya took a bribe from a Niger Delta businessman.

They said “…The said Capt. Hosa bribed the Brigade Commander Benin (Brig. Gen. Faruk Yahaya) alongside the Officer Commanding Army Gunboat, JTF (Major. M. B. Yahaya) with the sum of two hundred and fifty million naira (250,000,000) in collaboration with one Ayiri Emami to destroy Gbaramatu Kingdom in the guise of looking for the Niger Delta Avengers.”

The militants who slammed Tompolo for his ‘friendship’ with the Federal Government said “We offered you the olive branch by beckoning you to join us in this struggle, but you refused.”

They also revealed that the Chairman and CEO of Oil Marine Services (OMS), Capt. Okunbor Idahosa also known, as Capt. Hosa, got a contract from the Nigerian Government to secure pipelines from Escravos to Lokoja.

Some investigators from the United Kingdom are currently in Nigeria to gather more evidence against embattled a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, The Nation newspaper is reporting.

The UK investigators’ visit to Nigeria is part of the build-up to the trial of the ex-minister in London. Mrs Alison-Madueke and four others were arrested in London on October 2, 2015 by the National Crime Agency (NCA) but were released on “conditional police bail, pending further investigation both in the UK and overseas”.

The ex-minister is under investigation in the UK over the missing $20billion oil cash, phoney crude oil lifting contracts, $115million poll bribery money, the $1.092b Malabu oil deal and the N5.2billion ($25m) oil cash paid by an Indian oil firm for an oil block

Recall that the UK team inspected the former minister’s multi-billion naira mansion, her £600,000 exotic wrist watch and gold and diamond jewelry which have been confiscated.

Mrs Alison- Madueke has twice in six months appeared before a London court to answer charges regarding the £27,000 money laundering and bribery allegation made against her by the NCA.

She will be returning to the court again in September.

Jose Mourinho appointed Manchester United manager after Van Gaal exit

Manchester United announced on Friday that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has become their new manager.

Mourinho, who has long been linked to a move to Old Trafford, succeeds Dutch coach Louis van Gaal, who parted ways with the club on Monday after he failed to secure a place in next season's Champions League.

The appointment of the Portuguese coach, 53, was announced just days after United's FA Cup final against Crystal Palace, and issues surrounding image rights played a part in delaying the process.

Announcing the appointment, Manchester United vice chairman Ed Woodward said: "Jose is quite simply the best manager in the game today. He has won trophies and inspired players in countries across Europe and, of course, he knows the Premier League very well, having won three titles here.

Louis Van Gaal Sacked By Manchester United

Van Gaal and his Dutch coaching team have been informed that the club has ended their contracts, according to reports.

Manchester United's manager Louis Van Gaal has reportedly been sacked and has left the club along with his staff, reports say.The club will make a statement shortly where they are expected to confirm that the 64-year-old is no longer the team's manager.

He arrived at the club's Carrington training ground at around 8.45am, and was followed in by employment lawyer Paul Gilroy QC, who works with the League Managers' Association.

Sky's Sports Correspondent Paul Kelso said the decision had seemed "pretty certain" since it was revealed on Saturday evening that Manchester United were preparing to appoint Jose Mourinho as manager.

Kaduna refinery shuts down after re-opening in April

The Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) has closed down again after reopening in April.

The refinery is said to have been shut due to a lack of crude oil which was caused by the renewed violence in the Niger Delta, Leadership reports.

“We have shut down production for now. We do not have crude supply, am sure it is due to the renewed militancy in the Niger Delta region,” the source said.

“We will resume production as soon as we started getting crude supply from the Niger Delta. We are ready and our equipment are functional, the only problem now is the crude,” the source added.

The recent violence in the Niger Delta has been claimed by militant group, Niger Delta Avengers.

EgyptAir Flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo disappears

Flight MS804, a Paris-to-Cairo passenger plane carrying 66 people, disappeared off radar Search and rescue teams have been deployed to locate the Airbus A320 EgyptAir flight MS804 heading from Paris to Cairo has disappeared from radar with 66 people on board, including two babies and one child.

The plane, an Airbus A320, left Paris, France at 11.09pm local time on Wednesday night and was lost from ground radar at 2.30am Cairo time around 16km inside Egyptian airspace.

The plane vanished somewhere over the Mediterranean Sea, around half an hour before it was scheduled to arrive. No distress signal had been sent, according to the airline’s vice-chairman, Ahmed Abdel.

It was carrying 56 passengers and 10 crew: two cockpit crew, five cabin crew and three security personnel.  EgyptAir has published a list of passengers by nationality: 15 French, 30 Egyptian, 1 British, 1 Belgium, 2 Iraqis, 1 Kuwaiti, 1 Saudi, 1 Sudanese, 1 Chadian, 1 Portuguese, 1 Algerian, 1 Canadian.

The pilot has more than 6,000 hours of flight experience, including more than 2,000 hours flying the same model aircraft, EgyptAir said. The co-pilot has nearly 3,000 flying hours.

Leicester City won the Premier League title

Chelsea mounted the worst Premier League title defense ever, Manchester United never got to grips to what it means to be a top club, Liverpool were too inconsistent and Arsenal…well…they were Arsenal. Yay!!!

Leicester City won the league against a 5000/1 odds while one of the divisions most established clubs in Newcastle and Aston Villa were relegated.

While Players like Mesut Ozil, Riyad Mahrez, Harry Kane, Odion Ighalo, Jamie Vardy raised their game (Vardy was a prolific scorer in the lower leagues actually) and surprised everyone, others faltered.

Below are the players who failed to match the ambition or expectations of fans and their clubs;

1. Eden Hazard: The worst of the bunch though he did improve towards the end of the season with great goals and performances. It seemed like Jose Mourinho was toxic to his career but he still never recovered under Guus Hiddink.

Was expected to break the duopoly of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi but was so poor, it was reported Chelsea were ready to cash in. He looked good in the last four games of the season and expect him to shine this summer during the Euro 2016 tournament.

2. Memphis Depay: Another who was expected to reach world class level under the guidance of the man who made him a world star in the 2014 World Cup where he scored three goals.

He started brightly at Manchester United following his move from PSV but his manager started criticizing his output and his poor form became the stuff of legend.

At one point he looked overweight, at another point, he looked like he was not interested in playing for Louis Van Gaal. if Jose Mourinho, he would be expected to improve his game. Still has time to fulfill his potential.

Terry signs new contract

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce John Terry has signed a new one-year contract. 

The decision has been taken following the appointment of Antonio Conte as the club’s new manager last month, and consultation between Terry, Conte, the owner and the board.

7 things that are more gratifying than Love making

To so many people in the world sex is the best thing that could ever happen to them. This is really preposterous as there are over a thousand and one things that could give one a satisfaction which is better than sex.

This is completely different from just having money. You may have enough money to last you for a week and consider yourself rich during that period. Being rich is not the same as being wealthy; your attitude towards money when you have a few bucks lying around will tell whether you would be wealthy or just rich at the long run.

If you are concerned about being wealthy in life, then you would find joy in doing things that would make you closer to that dream. Dwelling on the fleeting happiness that comes with S3@. Xx:’ would not be the highest point in life for you.

2. Secure accommodation

Most people think sex is the best thing that could happen to them because they are in their comfort zone. When you do not have a roof over your head and you have to worry about where to rest your head every day, then you would know life is deeper than sex.

The ability to think this way would make you appreciate the warmness of your bed and the cleanliness of your bed linen each time you lay your head to sleep. You could have a more sound sleep knowing you have no major worries in life than when you have sex’ and sleep off.

As regards the recent fuel hike in price, Labour still insists they will be going on strike despite incessant begging from the Federal Government, as a matter of fact, not everyone supports the move for a strike action, I need Labour to look at the bigger picture, if we can recall our Telecommunication industry, I remember my MTN sim was bought for N12,000 but 12 years after we can get a sim card free. MTN milked us dry making us believe per second billing was unachieveable until Glo came. We see the competition in the industry today.

I still feel there is more to be tapped in the oil and gas industry, if only this same people supported the removal of subsidy 4 years ago by now we would have gotten used to it.

Labour should please stand down, because in recent years when we have this kind of issue, they are settled behind closed doors. It is assumed that they are fighting for the general public but it's the other way round.
