Sanusi set for legal tussle with Kano Assembly over planned removal as Emir.

Sanusi hires lawyers to stop planned removal as emir
Reports have it that Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II has reportedly hired prominent lawyers to prevent his removal from his position as monarch. 

According to the report, Sanusi has set up a legal team made up of at least three Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SANs) and other lawyers.The lawyers are: 

1. Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) 

2. Kola‎ Awodein (SAN) 

3. A.B Mahmoud (SAN) president of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) 

Other top counsels who are yet to be named are also on the team.

The reports also claim that the legal team are already working on legal applications that are set to be filed in Kano High Court today, Wednesday, May 11. 

Alhaji Ibrahim Gama who is representing Nasarawa local government raised a motion of urgent public importance. Ibrahim Gama expressed disappointment at statement credited to the emir that the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led administration wasted a month in China over the light rail project. 

He also criticised the emir’s decision to send his daughter to represent him at the #BringBackOurGirls programme saying it had not happened in the tradition of the emirate before.
