EFCC arraigns Rickey Tarfa for obstruction of justice

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Rickey Tarfa, before a Lagos state high for alleged obstruction of justice. 

Tarfa who is facing a two-count charge bordering on obstruction of justice and attempting to pervert the course of justice before Justice Aishat Opesanwo of a Lagos state high court was arrested on Friday, February 5, by operatives of the EFCC in Lagos, for allegedly shielding two suspects from arrest. 


The suspects, Nazaire Sorou Gnanhoue and Modeste Finagnon, both Beninoise, allegedly hid in Tarfa’s Mercedes Benz sports utility car, thereby shielding them from being arrested by the anti-graft agency.

According to Daily Post, he was also accused of having an unlawful telephone conversation with a judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Mohammed Yunusa. Rickey Tarfa  has however pleaded not guilty to both counts leveled against him. As at the time of filling in this story, Justice Opesanwo was yet to rule on Tarfa’s bail application.
