A mysterious fire outbreak has been reported at the Mohd Abubakar Rimi Market (popularly known as Sabon Gari Market) in Kano. The incident which started at about 2.00am affected shops at A, B and C zones of the market that sells footwears. Immediate cause of the fire was attributed to a power transformer within the market. Efforts are presently being made by the officers of the fire service. The state’s commissioner of environment, Alhaji Ali Haruna Makoda has since announced the suspension of the monthly sanitation exercise to allow rescue efforts at the market.
