Of course Superman should defeat Batman if the two were to go blow-to-blow in a fight. Superman is an all-powerful alien from another planet who possesses powers that are, to put it one way, not had by mortal men. At the other end of the duel would be Batman, who is basically just a smart athletic guy who wears a suit. Superman versus Batman should be a mismatch equal to the 1985 Chicago Bears playing against the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, the 1927 New York Yankees versus nearly every other baseball team at the time, and Donald Trump’s hair versus a strong gust of wind.
Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice, the Hollywood blockbuster that will be released in 2016, will attempt to tell a story about how Batman could, at the very least, hang with Superman were the two to come to blows. It is actually a story that is not at all foreign to the comic book world. Not only has Batman chosen to battle Superman in the past. The Caped Crusader has actually gotten the better of the Man in Steel in previous tales. Will that be the case on the big screen in 2016, or will the two eventually come together to fight a greater evil?
Superman gets his superpowers because of the sun that heats the earth. Take away the sun, and one would theoretically make Superman as beatable as any human foe that Batman would take on in a fight. Is it somewhat ridiculous to suggest that Batman/Bruce Wayne would have the ability to cause an eclipse that is massive enough to harm Superman for that length of time? Maybe, but this is a story that includes an alien from another planet fighting a guy who wears bat wings. We are able to start things off with a bit of a stretch in this scenario.
