A Yaba Chief Magistrate Court, Lagos state, Monday, arraigned a
35-year-old man, Oladele Oladunmoni, who allegedly inserted his fingers
into the private part of a three-month-old baby.
The prosecutor,
Inspector Rita Momah, told the court that the accused committed the
offence on January 18 at his unknown residence.
Moman said
Oladunmoni was briefly in contact with the infant when he committed the
offence, adding that a medical doctor, who examined the baby, confirmed
that the infant was defiled.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 137 of the
Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, and the said law prescribes life
imprisonment for offenders of child rape.
The accused who is facing charges bordering on child abuse, pleaded not guilty.
The magistrate, Mrs F. A. Adeeyo, granted the accused N500,000 bail, with two sureties in like sum.
Adeeyo adjourned the case till March 14 for further hearing.
