Nigerian legend Kanu Nwankwo received another feather in his cap when the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) named him in the top 48 legend of football worldwide.
The two-time African footballer of the year joined other distinguished Africans on the list that include former Ballon d’Or winner George Oppong Weah, Roger Milla, Rabah Medjer, Muhammed Aboutrika, Mohmud El-Khatub and former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe. IFFHS released the first phase of the list which includes Brazilian greats Pele and Ronaldo da Lima.

The IFFHS was formed in 1984 under FIFA’s approval and they focus on archiving football records, statistics and records of associations across the world. The former Super Eagles captain has been honoured for a stellar career that saw him win the U17 World Cup, Olympics gold, the Uefa Champions League, Uefa Cup, FA Cups and titles for top European sides Ajax, Inter Milan and Arsenal.
